The best intentions

The inquisition in medieval times had the best intentions, to protect the people (the world) from bad and evil things. A great cause.
The problem was in what they believed to be bad or evil, given the amount of information they had at that time.
Today, centuries after, the same problem exists, in a different context. We know that what happened then was bad and that people acted crazy on the things they didn’t understand at all.
Centuries from now, will this still be valid?
